Visiting Elstree
Open Mornings provide the opportunity for an informal visit on a Saturday morning to see the school “in action” with a Year 7 or 8 boy as your guide and the chance to meet the Head and other members of staff. Alternatively, you are welcome to come and meet the Head by appointment to have a personal tour of the school on any weekday morning. It is also possible to view the Home Farm Pre-Prep during your tour.
Applying for a place Applying to Elstree is very straightforward. The first step is to call our Registrar, Hazel Ormrod on 0118 971 3302 or

- to request a prospectus, book a place on the next Open Morning, alternatively to arrange a convenient date to visit or or to check availability and to discuss any aspect of the admissions process.
We do suggest that you register your child, either before or after your visit, by completing and returning the Registration form together with the Registration fee of £75 to ensure that your child’s name is on our Entry List. You will then be contacted in the year before your child is due to start – in order to confirm the place, you will need to complete an Entry Form and make a Deposit payment of £500 which is credited to your final account.
Assessment
Where appropriate, a report will be requested from the Headteacher of the child’s current school. All new pupils will be invited either to a New Pupils’ Day in the term preceding their start, or to spend a session with their prospective class. During the day, informal assessments will take place in order to gain a broad view of a child’s ability and aptitude.
All boys joining Elstree in Years 5 to 8 will be required to take some assessment tests in a minimum of English and Mathematics, and some Cognitive Ability Tests. This is not an entrance examination but an attempt to ensure that the School can most effectively gauge the suitable entry for that pupil into a particular form, set or stream. These tests may also be applied to pupils entering in Years 3 and 4, at the discretion of the School.
