Elstree Boy Gears up for Red Bull Challenge
Ten year old Adam Collings competes with gritty determination.

Ten year old Elstree boy, Adam Collings, is preparing to compete in the 2012 Red Bull Elite Youth Cup, a National motocross race series. Adam, who has been racing with Banbury Motocross Club for two years, has quickly climbed the ranks to become one of their top riders, with race wins at the club during 2011. He will travel as far as North Yorkshire and Cornwall with The Red Bull race series, competing against the top youth riders in the country. Adam has recently acquired a new 65cc KTM motorcross bike, as the competition has now stepped up to national level. This has been race prepared by specialists to produce 20bhp and is capable of over 50mph.

Adam began riding motorbikes when he was four years old. Driven by a desire to race, he pestered his parents continually until they signed him up with Banbury Motocross Club where he started racing in 2010. Adam’s father, David, remarked “Adam is very competitive and always shows gritty determination whenever he races. We hope the new bike will allow him to enjoy the same success at national level that he has achieved with his Banbury club. We are so proud of the progress he has made in this tough sport”. Adam can be seen here on his bike, outside the front steps of Elstree School.

Mark Sayer, Adam’s Headmaster, observes “Adam has made phenomenal progress since starting racing in 2010. He is a gutsy and committed boy, and now that he is taking part in the Red Bull Nationals he is going to need all the grit and determination he has shown so far. We are very proud of his achievements and always look to promote and support boys who do ‘their thing’ to a high level outside of school as well as in. It is clear too that Adam’s parents deserve a medal as much as he does for their backing, to say nothing of their nerves of steel as he careers round the track. Adam is a bright talent, and we look forward to seeing his continued success long into the future.”
Adam is sponsored by his parents’ software company, Vega Solutions Ltd. He has also received huge support and encouragement from Elstree - the school crest is emblazoned all over his bike.
